My experience at Bhoomi Farm

Divya Asokan, a volunteer who spent a few days in our Bhoomi Tiruvannamalai farm shares her experience.
"Gratitude and happiness fill me as I recall my time at the farm. The heart of our land beats in its villages, among the humble farmers and workers. I was astonished by their hospitality and genuine concern for my well-being, despite being a stranger. They effortlessly shared their knowledge, from identifying local wild berries to demonstrating the uses of herbs and medicinal weeds. The generosity of the akkas and annas in teaching me, from using the aruval (long sickle) to making soup powder, soap, and idli powder, was truly magnanimous.
Every moment was unforgettable, from picking delicate avarampoo to sharing mid-morning 'koozhu' and playing energetic games of "dhaayam" during breaks. Even the sighting of a tiny but fierce snake added thrill to the experience.
Working hands-on in the farm revealed the immense labor they undertake and underscored the value of every morsel of food reaching our plates in the city. Hearing their life stories shed light on their resilience in the face of difficulties, and witnessing Bhoomi's empowerment initiatives resulting in their success stories of transitioning to native grains or organic farming methods reinforced the impact of small, consistent efforts on society.

Conversations with Partha Anna opened my eyes to current problems and the importance of educating others about sustainable, healthy choices. I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at the farm, Partha Anna, and Bhoomi for this unforgettable experience."
